Back to Mexico

Here’s my Mexico mash-up.  Swim-up bar, here I come!
It sounds so simple, I just got to go
Some beach, somewhere
South of the border, down Mexico way
Do my best to waste another day
Toes in the water, ass in the sand
Sit right here and
have another beer in Mexico
It sounds so sweet, with the sun sinking low

CJU 2009

Last week I had the opportunity to attend Commission Junction’s annual CJU conference in Santa Barbara.  It was great to meet up with many of my advertising partners in advance of the holiday season.
I also realized it’s been 5 years since I first started doing affiliate marketing.  Time flies!

Home Again

Back to the ‘Quah this weekend, 4th trip this summer.  Hope the lake is still warm!

JetBlue’s All-You-Can-Jet Pass

For $599, JetBlue recently offered unlimited flights for 30 days, with not a lot of fine print.  (Basically you couldn’t just show up at the airport — flights would have to be booked 3 days in advance.)

Are “season-passes” the next big thing in air travel?  Ski areas, theme parks, and museums have already figured this [...]

Half Dome Climb

Bryn and I made our first trip to Yosemite this weekend, and summit-ed Half Dome with a group of 16 friends.  At over 8800 ft in elevation, Half Dome is the centerpiece of Yosemite National Park.  It is a 17 mile round trip hike, with 4800 ft in elevation gain — a serious endeavor even [...]

Bariloche Skiing

Nothing like skiing in August, especially powder skiing!
We met up with Dad and hit the slopes two days.  Let me explain why there is limited photographic evidence of this.
Day 1 was a serious storm-skiing day.  There weren’t any good opportunities to pull out the camera that wouldn’t have resulted in some very cold and wet [...]

El Calafate

After Iguazu, we headed south to Patagonia.  In fact, I believe our visit to El Calafate set a new personal record for “southern-most point traveled to.”  Look at where we were:

Probably wouldn’t have made the trip if the nearby Perito Moreno glacier hadn’t been featured in the 1000 Places to See Before You Die book.  [...]

Iguazu Falls

I won’t be able to look at another waterfall the same way again.  The Iguazu Falls are that incredible.  Aside from the August freshies at Cerro Catedral, this was the highlight of the trip.  The pictures aren’t going to do justice to the awesomeness, you’ll have to go see for yourself.
We took two days at [...]

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires was the first stop on our South American adventure last week.  The hostel was in a good central location so we were able to explore a lot just by walking around.
The city itself is very modern and much less poor than I was expecting — although we stayed mostly in the center, I’m [...]

Argentina Bound

Tomorrow I’m off on another South American adventure, meeting up with Chris in Buenos Aires Saturday morning.  We’ve got a week to explore the country before rendezvous-ing with dad in Bariloche for some August Patagonian skiing.
Time to dust off the old español, avoid the swine flu and tango-ing seductresses, get fat and happy from parillas [...]
