Seattle Weekend

Had a great weekend in Seattle / Issaquah.  Hope to make it back again before summer’s out.

A Shih Tzu is My Homeboy

Thanks to Lisa and Sterling for this awesome shirt!

New York Invasion

This weekend was a quick trip to NY for Charlie’s bachelor party.  I was in the Big Apple for less than 48 hours but we definitely made the most of it.

Friend Audit

You’ve probably seen the ads recently about this one girl who sets out to meet her facebook friends in person.  I thought it was an interesting idea.

It made me think about how true “friendships” can’t be quantified.  I have over 400 “friends,” yet many of these people I haven’t seen or spoken to in years.  [...]

Bay to Breakers

I was excited to participate in the San Francisco Bay to Breakers madness for the first time on Sunday.  It’s a 12k race across the city, but as far as I can tell, very few people actually run it.
Never seen that many drunk people that early in the morning.  BART was a freak show even [...]

No Love For the Mariners

Monday, Neil and I went to the A’s-Mariners game in Oakland.  It was just a lucky night all-around.  Sunday was Cliff Lee and Tuesday was King Felix.  Monday?  Ryan Rowland-Smith and his 7.62 ERA.  The skies opened up and let loose the only forecast rain all week.  In fact, the rain was really Rowland-Smith’s only [...]

Male Bonding

Working from home allows me to spend plenty of quality time with the pooch.  Although he spends most of it sleeping, sometimes we go outside.  These are actually from Saturday.

Fetching and bringing it back.  Making progress.

Whew that was fun.

And I’m spent.

Jury Duty

I was kind of excited to get selected for jury duty.  I’ve never done it before, and it seems like it might be interesting.  I mean I wouldn’t want to have to sit for a 4 month trial or anything, but maybe a day of civic duty in our legal system would be a cool [...]

Slush Cup 2010

Awesome to get one last day of skiing in on Friday.  Drove up with Simon from Bryn’s work.  The sun was shining at Kirkwood and temps were probably in the mid-to-upper 50s.  The crazy thing is they’d gotten 18 inches of freshies earlier in the week, but by 10am it was concrete.
Everyone was having a [...]

The Fallacy of Getting in Shape

I tend to think of “in shape” as a mythical state of being I have yet to achieve.   I’ve been working out pretty regularly for 10+ years, and am starting to realize I may never arrive at “in-shape-Land.”  It’s too amorphous to define, but it’s definitely more of a continuum than a concrete destination.  [...]
