Monday, Neil and I went to the A’s-Mariners game in Oakland. It was just a lucky night all-around. Sunday was Cliff Lee and Tuesday was King Felix. Monday? Ryan Rowland-Smith and his 7.62 ERA. The skies opened up and let loose the only forecast rain all week. In fact, the rain was really Rowland-Smith’s only friend. Having coughed up 7 runs through 2 and 2/3, he was praying for a rain-out before the 5th. But unfortunately for him and the M’s, the rain let up and they finished the game.
Six of the Mariners nine starters were batting under .200. Not exactly a recipe for success.
What kept the game interesting was the fact this was my best odds ever at getting a foul ball. Official attendance was listed at 10,051, but I think that was very generous. Probably only half that number showed up. You be the judge:
Look at all this territory we were covering! It doesn’t seem possible that not one ball was hit our direction. What a scam.
Either way, fun times. Thanks Michael for the tickets!
