Monday morning special.

alarm clockThe snooze alarm.  Those extra 9 minutes of sleep feel so good, but it turns out snoozing can actually make you more tired.

Sleep researchers say the deepest, most restful sleep occurs in the early morning hours just before the alarm goes off.  By setting the alarm earlier than you need to get up, and subsequently “snoozing”, you cut short your most valuable sleeping time.

And while it’s so easy to hit the snooze button and roll back over, those short naps have little restorative value when it comes to energizing you for your day.  They can also cause shifts in brain wave patterns that can confuse your body’s internal clock.

Experts recommend setting the alarm for the actual time you need to get up, and then get up.  After all, the day’s a-wasting.
