If you’re gonna sell out, you might as well go all out, right?

After a weekend at Disneyland, it became apparent there is no greater merchandiser than the Walt Disney Company.  Their marketing minds have come up with every product imaginable, and then plenty more.   There are your standard mouse ear hats, character t-shirts, princess costumes, Mickey jewelry, Mickey plates, picture frames, Mickey popsicles, pens, toys, doo-dads, Christmas ornaments, Mickey pretzels, etc etc etc times infinity.

I don’t know when this started, but pin-collecting/pin-trading is the next big thing.  I thought these pins were like a dollar or two apiece.  Instead, they probably average over $10.  And then there’s the complementary businesses of selling lanyards to put the pins on and bags to carry them once you’ve filled up your lanyard.

They even sell wine-bottle toppers and shot glasses, which I thought was kind of weird since alcohol is just about the only thing they don’t sell in Disneyland.

It’s all pretty impressive.  It’s the mark of a great company that can create such an amazing variety of products people want and pay top dollar for.  Must be that Disney magic.  I even participated a little myself, and am pretty pumped about my acquisition:
