For me, New York falls into the category of “nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.”  That’s not to say I don’t enjoy a big-city adventure every now and then, but just that as a child of suburbia, I’ve come to value:

  • Grass over concrete
  • Open space over skyscrapers
  • The independence of driving over standing-room-only subways
  • Fresh air over taxi exhaust
  • Quiet nights over a city “that never sleeps”
  • Being able to walk at my own pace over being slowed down by the mass of people in front of me

top-of-the-rock

Call me boring, I’m OK with it.  Instead of being 1 in 8,000,000, I’m happy being 1 in 2.
